1. Account & Login

Q1: How do I create a Gresh account?

Sign up with your email address. We'll send a verification code to your email — enter it and set a password to complete registration. Password requirements: at least 8 characters, including letters, numbers, and special characters.

Q2: I forgot my password. What should I do?

Tap "Forgot Password" on the login screen, enter your registered email, and we'll send you a verification code. After verification, you can set a new password.

Q3: How do I change my email address?

Go to Settings → Account → Change Email, enter your new email address, and verify it with the code sent to the new email.

Q4: How do I change my password?

Go to Settings → Account → Password Settings. If you already have a password, you'll need to enter your current password first, then set a new one. If you haven't set a password yet, you can create one directly.

Q5: I see a message saying my account is pending deletion. What does this mean?

This means you previously submitted an account deletion request and are currently within the 7-day cooling-off period. You can log in and choose to restore your account to cancel the deletion.

2. Account Deletion & Data Removal

Q6: How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account and confirm. Your account will enter a 7-day cooling-off period. During this time, you can still log in to restore your account. After the cooling-off period, your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Q7: Can I restore my account during the 7-day cooling-off period?

Yes. Log in with your email and password during the cooling-off period, and the app will prompt you to restore your account. Tap confirm to restore immediately.

Q8: What data is deleted when my account is removed?

All data associated with your account will be deleted, including: journal entries, areas/categories, checklist tasks, and account information.

3. Journal Features

Q9: Can I edit my journal entries?

Yes. Open an existing entry and tap the edit button to make changes. Edits will automatically sync across all your logged-in devices.

Q10: Can I recover deleted journal entries?

Deleted entries are soft-deleted and can be recovered within the retention period. After the retention period, they are permanently removed.

Q11: Is there a character limit for journal entries?

There is no strict character limit, though very long entries may affect performance.

Q12: Are my journal entries visible only to me?

Yes. All journal entries are private to your account. There are no public or sharing features. If you enable end-to-end encryption, even our servers cannot read your journal content.

4. End-to-End Encryption (E2EE)

Q13: What is end-to-end encryption?

End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is an optional security feature. When enabled, your journal content is encrypted on your device before being uploaded to our servers. Our servers cannot read your plaintext content. We use the industry-standard AES-256-GCM encryption algorithm.

Q14: How do I enable end-to-end encryption?

Go to Settings → End-to-End Encryption and follow the setup guide. The system will generate a Recovery Passphrase for you — please store it securely.

Q15: What is the Recovery Passphrase used for?

The Recovery Passphrase is used to restore your encrypted journals when switching devices. If you're using the same Apple ID, your encryption key will sync automatically via iCloud Keychain. If you switch to a non-Apple device, you'll need the Recovery Passphrase to recover your data.

Q16: What if I lose my Recovery Passphrase?

If you lose your Recovery Passphrase and cannot recover your encryption key via iCloud Keychain, your encrypted journal content cannot be recovered. This is by design — even we cannot decrypt your data. We recommend storing your Recovery Passphrase in a password manager.

5. Data Synchronization

Q17: How do my journals sync across devices?

When you're logged into the same account on multiple devices, your journals sync automatically via the cloud. The app triggers sync at launch, every 15 minutes, and when returning from the background.

Q18: Can I write journal entries offline?

Yes. Gresh supports offline use — your entries are saved locally. When your internet connection is restored, data will automatically sync to the cloud.

Q19: What should I do if sync seems stuck?

  • Check your internet connection (WiFi or cellular data)
  • Make sure all devices are logged into the same account
  • Go to Settings → Data Sync to manually trigger a sync
  • If you have a large amount of data, syncing may take a few minutes
  • If the issue persists, try logging out and back in

6. Privacy & Security

Q20: What data does Gresh collect?

  • Data you provide: Email address, journal content, feedback
  • Automatically collected: Device information, crash logs, anonymous usage statistics (to improve the product)
  • We do NOT collect: Government IDs, bank account details, or other sensitive personal information

For details, see our Privacy Policy.

Q21: Will my data be sold to third parties?

No. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or any third party, and we do not use your journal content for ad targeting.

Q22: What third-party services does Gresh use?

Service Provider Purpose
Cloud Infrastructure Google Cloud Platform Service hosting and data storage

Q23: What happens to my data if I delete the app?

Deleting the app does not delete your cloud data. Reinstalling the app and logging in with the same account will restore your data. If you want to permanently delete all your data, you need to request account deletion from within the app.
